About Us

The Real Estate Organization (REO) is the premier organization for students interested in investment real estate markets, analysis and professions.

REO educates, connects and advances its members across the commercial real estate industry, including development, brokerage, management, consulting and capital allocation.

REO provides its members with opportunities to personally interact with commercial real estate industry professionals, observe real estate projects first-hand and practically analyze real estate markets and investments.

Scholarship Application - Fall 2018

Eligibility: Current Rawls College of Business Finance majors who will be enrolled as a full time student during Fall 2018. Students must have taken or currently enrolled in Real Estate Fundamentals and enroll in at least 1 additional Real Estate Course during Fall 2018 to be eligible for a Real Estate Scholarship.

Instructions: Please complete and return this form to Nicole Hart (Finance Administrative Coordinator) in BA W313 by 12pm on Friday April 6th, 2018. In addition, please submit your current resume and your unofficial transcripts in this application packet. Students wishing to be considered for scholarships where financial need is a criteria must attach a 1 paragraph essay explaining their current need and must also fill out a FAFSA form.

The position entails leasing apartments and administrative duties. The hours are part-time (approx. 20 to 22 hours per week). Jared Harrell, JD

Faculty Advisor

Jared P. Harrell, JD joined Texas Tech University in 2015 as an Assistant Professor of Practice, where he brings his experience as a real estate lawyer into the classroom. As an attorney, his legal practice focused on the successful completion of transactions by combining real estate experience with an understanding of finance and transactional economics.  Professor Harrell holds a Bachelor’s degree in engineering from Texas A&M, a law degree from the University of Texas and a Master’s of Law and Finance from the University of Oxford.


Dr. Stephen Buschbom

Faculty Advisor

Dr. Buschbom received both his B.B.A. in Real Estate and his Ph.D. in Business Administration with a concentration in real estate and a minor in finance from the University of Georgia. Prior to starting his Ph.D., he worked at Voya Investment Management in Atlanta for six years, where he started as an analyst and left as an assistant portfolio manager. His areas of research expertise are real estate finance and investment, mortgage-backed securities, urban economics and spatial economics.
